There are many electrical maintenance jobs that are common to the industry. You will likely find yourself needing these jobs carried out in your home at some point, something that all experienced electrical contractors are capable of doing. Given that these jobs are quite straightforward and that the electricians will be able to predict the time it takes to complete the job, they’re quite easy to price. This week, we shall discuss the common electrical maintenance jobs in your household and what you might expect to pay.
Common electrical jobs – light fitting
If you need the help of an expert with changing a light fitting, this is a relatively simple task. The time it takes to change a fitting would rarely take any longer than an hour, with the cost approximating £40 or what their standard hourly rate may be. You must also then add the price of the new light fitting itself.
Consumer unit
Commonly known as the fuse box, the consumer unit helps to control the flow of electricity around the home. Replacing this will typically cost between £400 to £500 and will take a day to complete.
Electric shower
Do you require someone to install your electric shower? If so, this is another job that will usually take a day to complete. You should expect to pay anything between £250 and £400 depending on the complexity of the job and the rates of your electrical contractor. Please note that you may also need a plumber to complete the installation, which is a separate cost to consider.
Electric cooker
If the power is already in place, installing an electric cooker will be a relatively small job. Without the price of the oven itself, you should expect to pay somewhere around £50 to £80.
Electrical socket installation
You should expect to pay anywhere between £100 and £130 if you require an expert to install a double electrical power socket. This price expectation applies to both indoor and outdoor sockets, but you may want to speak with your chosen electrician in case the price differs slightly.
Electrical inspection
The price of an electrical inspection will come down to certain details about your home, such as the size and number of rooms. If you would like to know more about these costs, as well as what to expect from your inspection, click here.
